I really want to play but don't have a team?
No problem! You can sign up as an individual or with a friend and we will find the friendly teammates for you :)
Are the Leagues Mixed or Mens?
Monday will be our Mens social competition.
Thursday nights will be our Mixed social competition (min 1 girl on field).
What is the difference between the 'social' and 'intermediate' nights?
The ‘social’ night is perfect if you haven’t played in a while or want to play more friendly easygoing games.
At Toowong both Monday and Thursday will be Social nights.
Mondays will be for social Mens teams and Thursday will be for social Mixed teams (min 1 girl on field).
The ‘intermediate’ night is better suited if you have played a bit before and are looking to play at a bit higher level.
If you want to play intermediate I recommend joining our Kedron or Yeronga venues.
Please note all competitions are social so the main aim is to have fun, if you are super competitive and play to win at all costs then this probably isn’t the right league for you.
What happens after I join as an individual player?
You will be put in a team with other individual players, 1 week before the league starts.
If the league has already started and there are spots available then you can start that week.
If you haven’t heard from us or aren’t sure which team you are in, just message Sam here or use the live chat on the bottom right of this page.
Can I wear boots with studs at Toowong?
Our Toowong field has a special grass surface, this means we get a perfectly flat field to play football on but we can only wear trainers or turf boots.
No boots with studs over 1cm are allowed on the field under any circumstances.
This means we can play on great quality fields without the need to wear shinpads.
Not sure if your boots are right? Check here.
If you want to wear football boots then try our Yeronga competitions here.
What if I'm a beginner player?
You have come to the right place! All our games are social so no one takes it too seriously. Our friendly refs can help explain the basic rules at the start of each game :)
What time and location are the games?
Games are every night at Toowong.
Game times will depend how many teams will be in your comp but the earliest and latest times are 6.00pm, 6.45pm, 7.30pm, 8.15pm and 9.00pm.
We play at the same venue every week and you can check your game time anytime on the website.
What skill level will my team be?
We try to create teams of similar ability but our competitions are social so the skill level will vary between teams, like it does for all competitions.
We have experienced players and new players, but everyone is looking to enjoy playing some football.
If you are really worried about the skill level get in touch with your experience and I can let you know if our competition will be suitable for you.
What happens if I have 2 or 3 friends but not enough for a team?
If you don’t have enough players for a team you can enter with friends and we can make sure you are on the same team.
We operate on a first come first served basis so just enrol together or send Sam a message and he can make sure you are all placed together :)
Why doesn't SportUP offer insurance?
Essentially because you get a better deal with private health cover. A club wide policy would require you to be insured for the whole year rather than just for the length of the league so it would increase registration prices.
Plus as a blanket policy it would provide only very limited cover of up to specific amounts e.g. $20 off first few Physio appointments. If you don’t have a medicare card or private health cover we recommend you take out a personal accident or injury policy.
Whilst SportUP aims to provide a safe and fun place to play sport, accidents do happen so make sure you know what you are covered for with your insurance.
What happens if I can't make it one week?
As long as you let us know 48hrs in advance, we can usually find a replacement player for you so your team won’t have to play short ;)
What is the refund policy?
If you don’t enjoy your first game you can get a full 100% refund. Just email [email protected] within 24hrs from your first game.
After this 24hrs there is no refund however still let me know if you are unable to play and I can try and find a replacement player so your team doesn’t have to play short.
Is there a list of rules for the League?
We play 5-a-side on grass with a Futsal ball on a slightly larger than normal 5-a-side pitch.
